Brindisi is a city in the region of Apulia in southern Italy, the capital of the province of Brindisi, on the coast of the Adriatic Sea.
The name comes through the Latin Brundisium through the Greek Brentesion and Messapi Brention meaning "head of deer" related with Albanian bri, brî - pl. Brini zi ( black horn ) brirë, brinë ("horn"; "antler") [< late Proto-Albanian *brina < earlier *brena ].
The city's name appears, therefore, to refer to the shape of the port which recalls the shape of the head of the animal.
This is how the entire old Albanian language was built on the basis of the pictographic form of the object that is named or acted upon.
