The etymology of the word κεφαλή

κεφαλή, -ῆς, ἡ

*kephalē of ancient Greek has the same meanings as *krye of the Albanian language.

Meanings:

Krye/head (the head of a body); top (stone in a building); someone or something in a primary place, point of origin

Beekes writes that both the Greek and Latin words point to a pre-Greek origin of the word. It is supposed to be a loan from an unknown source.
