Baking a New Trail: Albanian Language's Influence on 'Bread' and 'Bake

Vladimir Orel's etymological analysis of the Albanian word "bukë" (bread) is incorrect. He claims it derives from Latin "bucca" (mouth), but this logic is flawed. Using his etymological logic the Albanian language word "burrë" (man, husdband) comes from "burro" (donkey) of Spanish.A more accurate explanation lies in the Old Albanian verb "bhogo," which is the root of the verb "bake" and the noun "bread."
The connections between languages reveal a deeper relationship:
- Phrygian: Bekos or begos (bread)
- Illyrian: Bagaron (warm), unclear meaning.
- Armenian: Bocʿ (flame)
- Latin: Focacius (kind of baked dough) from focus (fire)
- Ancient Greek: Phṓgō (verb meaning roast)
- Old English: Bacan (to bake)

The origin of the Albanianlanguage verb "pjek"(roast) comes from Bho-Gho:
- Bho (verb "do"), primordial form
- Gho (harden, join), primordial form.
Further connections to Albanian include:
- The verb "bashko" (join) with the same root root "bhogo" and "bhog" (o>a and g<>sk)
- "brumë" (Dough) with the possibility with root "bhër+uj+gh-m" where "ghe" is last, unhardened mixture of wheat flour and water.
Another verb related to bread is "thek" with the root "thieg>djeg' (burn).
-The Sanskrit word “paca” and “Pacati” meaning “to cook” and “to bake".
- The Albanian verb "gatuaj" (to cook).
-The Albanian word 'gati' (ready).
-The Slavic word gatoviti (to cook)
-'Pogaçe' a type of bread, a word shared among Latin, Byzantine Greek, Turkish, and Slavic languages, has its roots in Albanian. 

The word's etymology can be traced back to the Albanian root words:
- Bho (make)
- Gho (harden, join).
The primordial form "bhogho" (pjek, bukë) is the only explanation that encompasses all the various words derived from it in different languages.
This etymological connection highlights the linguistic influence of Albanian on neighboring languages, demonstrating the significance of understanding the roots of words to uncover their true meanings and connections."
