The psychopaths of the power of thieves and their chief psychopath, Rama, have taken over not only the political scene but also a large part of Albania’s media landscape.
Unfortunately, over the past ten years, this category has multiplied like cockroaches—and, even worse, those in power have given them the confidence and arrogance of modern-day slave owners: to speak with arrogance, attack anyone who thinks differently, and portray servility as a virtue.
But the greatest damage caused by this government is not limited to corruption, clientelism, or the destruction of institutions. It is the distortion of the very way Albanians perceive reality.
A country where propaganda replaces truth, where servility is rewarded and criticism is punished, risks becoming a large political psychiatric hospital, where absurdity is sold as normality and madness as development.
The problem is not simply that democracy is lacking. The problem is that, after ten years of propaganda and manipulation, there is now an attempt to make even those things that would be considered unacceptable in a normal society appear normal.
And when a government succeeds in making people defend even its absurdities, then the damage it has caused is far greater than the power it itself holds.
